Privacy Policy

Information on the processing of personal data in accordance with Art. 13 GDPR. Last updated: August 2026.

This is an English translation provided for your convenience. The German version of this privacy policy is the legally binding one.

1 · Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is:
Florian Brosig (Pixelschnitzel)
Forellstraße 101–113, 44629 Herne · Germany
Email: info@pixelschnitzel.com
Phone: +49 2323 585 108 0

2 · General

We take the protection of your personal data seriously and comply with the applicable data protection regulations. Personal data is collected on this website only to the extent technically necessary. Under no circumstances is the collected data sold or passed on to third parties for any other reason.

3 · Server log files & reach measurement

When you access this website, our own server collects and stores the following data (we do not use an external analytics service such as Google Analytics on the regular pages):

  • date and time of access
  • page accessed, time on page and amount of data transferred
  • browser type and version used, operating system
  • HTTP referrer (source page) and, where applicable, campaign parameters (e.g. UTM)
  • the full IP address and the country derived from it (this geo lookup runs locally on our server, without any external service)
  • a session identifier to group several page views of one visit

Purpose: secure and stable operation, protection against attacks, and statistical reach and campaign analysis (which pages and channels work). This analysis takes place exclusively on our own servers; no data is transferred to third parties.

Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in operation, security and reach measurement). This data is automatically deleted after 90 days at the latest. You can object to reach measurement at any time at info@pixelschnitzel.com (Art. 21 GDPR).

In-browser measurement (our own counter, no cookie)

In addition to the server-side data above, a small script served from our own server (ps-track.js) reports technical details that never reach the server. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser and loads no third-party service. The following is sent to our own endpoint:

  • screen and window size, pixel density, and whether the device has a touchscreen
  • the rough connection type (e.g. “4g”), where the browser reports it
  • page load timings (server response, DOM ready, fully loaded)
  • how far the page was scrolled and how long it was visible
  • which kind of control was clicked, only as a predefined identifier from a fixed list (such as “phone number clicked”, “form submitted”), together with the page it happened on

No form content is transmitted. No name, no email address, no text from an input field, not even truncated. We only record that a form was started, submitted or rejected by the server.

Purpose: to find out on which devices the site is slow or unusable and where visitors drop out. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a working website). The data is stored alongside the server-side data and deleted after 90 days at the latest. You can object (Art. 21 GDPR) and you can also prevent the measurement by disabling JavaScript, the site keeps working.

On our advertising landing pages (the /lp area) this script is loaded only after your consent.

Chat window

Our pages embed a chat window you can use to write to us directly. It is loaded from our own system at thor.pixelschnitzel.com, which runs on the same server in Germany. Loading it transmits your IP address to that address; this is technically unavoidable. If you write to us through the window, we process your message like an email inquiry (see section 4). Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in being reachable), or Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR once it concerns entering into a contract.

4 · Contacting us

If you send us inquiries by email, phone or contact form, your details will be stored in order to process the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in responding effectively). The data is deleted once the matter has been fully processed, unless statutory retention obligations prevent this.

To handle it, we file your inquiry in our own request system (Thor), which runs on our server in Germany. There it is assigned a named contact instead of sitting in a shared mailbox. We store the same details you sent us. This data is used solely to handle your inquiry, no newsletter, no advertising, no remarketing.

5 · Cookies

On the regular pages we do not set any advertising or marketing cookies. The in-browser measurement described above also works without a cookie. Technically necessary cookies (e.g. a session identifier and cookies for login functions on protected subpages) are used; these are exempt from consent under Section 25 para. 2 TDDDG.

On our advertising landing pages (the /lp area) marketing cookies and pixels are additionally used, but only after your active consent via the cookie notice there. Nothing is loaded without consent (see the “Conversion tracking” section).

6 · Integrated services

Fonts (self-hosted)

All fonts are served from our own server. There is no connection to Google Fonts or any other external CDN; your IP address is not transferred to third parties for this purpose.

Article images (Openverse)

Images for articles in the “News” section are sourced via Openverse under free licenses (Creative Commons / Public Domain). Author and license are stated in each case; the images are served from our own server.

Conversion tracking on advertising landing pages (consent only)

If you reach one of our advertising landing pages (the /lp area) via an ad and actively consent, we use services to measure ad performance:

  • Meta Pixel & Conversions API. Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. / Meta Platforms Inc., USA
  • Google Ads & Google Analytics 4 incl. Consent Mode v2. Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC, USA

In this context, pseudonymous identifiers and hashed contact data (e.g. email, phone number) may be processed and transmitted to these providers. A transfer to the USA takes place, based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and Section 25 para. 1 TDDDG, which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future. Without consent, these services are not loaded.

7 · Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights at any time:

  • Access (Art. 15 GDPR), to which data we have stored about you
  • Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), to have data deleted
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Objection (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR), at any time
  • Complaint to a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

To exercise your rights or for questions about data protection, you can reach us at info@pixelschnitzel.com.

8 · Hosting & processors

This website is hosted on servers in Germany with a GDPR-compliant German hosting provider under a data processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. For sending emails (e.g. confirmations for inquiries) we use the email service of the same provider.

Recipients / processors in this context are in particular: our hosting/email provider (Germany) and, only on the advertising landing pages and only after consent. Meta and Google (see “Conversion tracking”).

9 · Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to occasionally adapt this privacy policy to current legal and technical requirements. The version valid at the time of your visit applies in each case.
